If you’ve followed the news, California’s illustrious Govinator is trying to release 20,000 non-violent inmates back into our lives. These are the people who haven’t murdered, kidnapped, or committed any number of heinous acts (yet) available to the average meth head – burglary not withstanding. California’s Central Valley is home to some of the biggest meth producers in the country – many of them illegal immigrants. The highest safeguards are to be put in place. The criminals have to be available for drug testing for a period of one year after release. It’s comforting to know that they can watch other criminals on my TV from the comfort of their own home. “Cops” and “AMW” are the most popular shows in prison. The post Prosecutors or Persecutors referenced the high cost of incarceration. That’s only the half of it. Recidivism is estimated to be almost 50% among this group. See: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0933722.html . I do agree that by 2050 the population will be split. As G.W. Bush so eloquently put it, “you’re either for us or against us”, us being the chosen purveyors of justice – much like it is now, only then the tag line under Uncle Sam will be: It’s just business…
